What is Avalanche on eCash?

A consensus protocol that runs alongside eCash's Nakamoto Proof-of-Work, letting nodes poll each other and reach agreement on blocks and (with Pre-Consensus) individual transactions in seconds.

Post-Consensus (live since Sep 2022) brings 1-block finality and 51% attack prevention. Pre-Consensus (mainnet target Nov 15, 2025) finalizes transactions in <3 s before they're mined — making eCash feel like cash for both users and exchanges.

Think of PoW as writing (slow, permanent) and Avalanche as speech (fast, fleeting) — eCash uses both.

What is Agora on eCash?

A non-custodial atomic-swap protocol built on eCash Script. Launched October 2024, it lets anyone list eTokens or NFTs for sale directly on-chain — no exchange, no custodian, no permission required.

Trades are settled by transactions that the buyer signs to themselves, made possible by the OP_CHECKDATASIG opcode. The covenants live on-chain so anyone can browse, bid, and settle without a centralised order book.

Powers the eToken DEX inside Cashtab and showcases eCash's native DeFi capabilities at sub-cent fees.

What is Heartbeat?

eCash's real-time difficulty adjustment algorithm, activated November 15, 2024. It runs on top of the classical Bitcoin difficulty adjustment to smooth out block times and stop the "block clumping" problem where bursts of hashpower produce 5 blocks in 2 minutes followed by 30 minutes of silence.

When blocks arrive faster than the 10-minute target, difficulty rises immediately and then decreases monotonically until a normal plateau is reached. Blocks that violate the real-time target are rejected by Avalanche consensus — even if they're technically valid by Bitcoin's classical rules.

Result: more consistent transaction confirmation times, fewer mining-pool exploits, and a more predictable experience for everyone using the network.

What is Chronik?

Chronik is the high-performance eCash indexer that ships inside Bitcoin ABC. It's the data layer every wallet, explorer, and dApp on eCash talks to — including this live stream.

Rust-native and tightly integrated with the node, Chronik serves chain data plus full SLP / ALP token state through a unified HTTP + WebSocket API. Wallets get fast address-history lookups, token-aware UTXO sets, and live transaction streams without having to re-parse the chain themselves.
